Transcript of “About” video
Hi, my name is Erin Carnahan, and I’m a therapist in Oakland, California. I provide online counseling to individual adults across the state.
My clients typically have multiple marginalized identities that have frequently been minimized or rejected by their communities or families.
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ Christians or “ex-vangelicals,” and other folks who might be deconstructing their cultural and spiritual beliefs.
Re-examining identity and beliefs can be so isolating and often comes up during already destabilizing life transitions, losses, and even seemingly positive changes.
From a Client-Centered and Intersectional Feminist foundation, I meet my clients where they’re at to collaborate on developing the personalized therapy approach that works for them.
I use trauma-informed, identity-affirming, and strengths-based practices and strategies to help clients cope with immediate stressors and examine underlying issues.
I deeply respect my clients’ authority on their own life experiences which, for too many people, has included ineffective and downright harmful encounters with people and systems that claim to be helping.
I know it can be tough to tell from just a profile how safe you’d feel with someone, which is why I offer free consultation calls and welcome any questions you may have.
So if you’ve resonated with something I’ve said or written, I encourage you to book a 15 minute call to see if I’d be a good fit for you.
